The hardest thing about finding information about a research topic for me, would be finding more than one reliable source to get my information from. This is the hardest part for me because I’m still not sure on how to Google a topic or a question effectively to get the information I am looking for. Also, when speaking about books, I don’t know how to find the information in a quick manner and still achieve my goal. Therefore, I feel forced to just use whichever sources or information I find first. Something I learned in class that I didn’t know before and found interesting wad the fact that some companies or business will pay Google to put their article in the first couple pages because they know that most people will not look at more than a couple pages before quitting. This makes me wonder how reliable some sources are because this demonstrates that these sources are more than likely to being bias. The library research class not only helped me fully understand how to research a topic but the importance of plagiarism. I knew before that I would be plagiarizing if I used somebody else’s words or ideas without citing them, but I did not grasp the idea that I was plagiarizing if I claimed to get information from a source that I did not actually get it from. It makes perfect sense to me now why that would be considered plagiarizing but without the horrible grade on my assignment, I would have never learned that lesson. This class was already extremely helpful; therefore I’m not sure I would change anything. Although, I do wish we had more time to work with you as well as more time for walking there and back since it is farther because a lot of the time student’s are talking to their last class’s teachers and are late.
