The hardest thing about finding information about a research topic for me, would be finding more than one reliable source to get my information from. This is the hardest part for me because I’m still not sure on how to Google a topic or a question effectively to get the information I am looking for. Also, when speaking about books, I don’t know how to find the information in a quick manner and still achieve my goal. Therefore, I feel forced to just use whichever sources or information I find first. Something I learned in class that I didn’t know before and found interesting wad the fact that some companies or business will pay Google to put their article in the first couple pages because they know that most people will not look at more than a couple pages before quitting. This makes me wonder how reliable some sources are because this demonstrates that these sources are more than likely to being bias. The library research class not only helped me fully understand how to research a topic but the importance of plagiarism. I knew before that I would be plagiarizing if I used somebody else’s words or ideas without citing them, but I did not grasp the idea that I was plagiarizing if I claimed to get information from a source that I did not actually get it from. It makes perfect sense to me now why that would be considered plagiarizing but without the horrible grade on my assignment, I would have never learned that lesson. This class was already extremely helpful; therefore I’m not sure I would change anything. Although, I do wish we had more time to work with you as well as more time for walking there and back since it is farther because a lot of the time student’s are talking to their last class’s teachers and are late.

Question 3
The following statement, “since everything is on the internet, I don’t need books… right?” I would beg to differ. Books are significant because they are published, and not everyone can publish a book. Whereas, on the internet just about anybody could publish a piece of work, therefore books have a better sense of respect than works that can be found on the internet. Even though the internet is more accessible because of the quick and easy access, does not mean that what a person could gain from the internet is as the same as someone who is reading a book. Books are simply more enjoyable because you could hold them in your hands and physically flip the pages as well as write comments on the sides of the pages. However, on the internet you don’t have that option. Also, books have a variety of information put together under one bind, compared to a site where there is more than likely just one topic or an article about a very concentrated subject which limits what could have been read. If books were not needed, the atmosphere of a library would change. For instance, libraries would only consist of computers. Computers are not necessarily the best choice for research or getting information on a topic because being on the computer is very distracting especially in this day in age with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Without books, the simple joy of reading a novel or a story for pleasure would not exist. Most people on their free time don’t read research articles but they read books and stories. If books were exempt then there would be less reading activity in the world we live in and I believe that to be a good writer, you must also be a good reader as well, and good writing is essential to get our ideas across successfully. Therefore, eliminating books because we have the internet is irrelevant because the internet does not fulfill what books have to offer us.

Question 2
I think librarians are in student's lives to help guide them through their studies. Their studies might consist of researching a topic, writing an essay or argument or simply looking for the perfect book to help them find the right kind of information, or even a good book for pleasure reading. Librarians are people who will take the time to give help hints and advice to students about topics such as plagiarism. This awareness librarians help provide is extremely important not only to the student but to our society as a whole in respect to the values. It would be really cool if librarians could have their own personal online websites that students could easily get access to late at night while stuck on writing a paper or just have a question about a topic or book. These websites could also have an area to blog about different subjects such as book reports or ratings. These personal, but professional websites would be cool because students would have an “online” library in some sense but all the time. Having an “online” library would be useful especially to those students who may not own a computer or simply have questions or need to express their ideas to someone who will be willing to listen. In the future, the picture of a library will change tremendously. Unfortunately, I think there will be fewer books and more computers and other electronics. I say this because books are slowly becoming less favorable for research especially because many people have found websites such as 'Google' more efficient because of the easy and quickly accessed. Though, libraries will still be a quiet place to study and a still very useful atmosphere.

Question 1
When I attend college, I would love to major in English while attending classes for my prerequisites for medical school. This is my dream because throughout my life I have vivid memories of the hospital and many life changing, as well as dreadful doctors. These memories may not seem relevant to anyone but myself because they are minor details, but these minor details are a significant reason for my desire to be apart of the health care system. In college, I hope to study all of the different aspects of being a physician’s assistant or a doctor who performs surgery, because those are the two specific fields I am interested in. No matter what road in health care I may end up taking, I would like to specialize in pediatrics. I want to specialize in pediatrics because I fell in love working with mostly children when I was an intern at the Children's Hospital this past spring. Being apart of the pre-collegiate health careers program is helping me explore different jobs in the field as well as learning how to be a rigorous and dedicated student. The five-week program is far more intense than my school coursework, so being apart of the program takes a tremendous amount of commitment. I am thankful for being in pre-collegiate because I am learning a significant amount of new study skills as well as reinforcing my knowledge in math and communication skills. Since my English class counts as a college credit, being in pre-collegiate is also helping me be a step closer to my dream of going to college and one day become a medical or physicians assistant student.
